Excerpt from 'Breakthroughs in Health' Vol.1 Issue 2 - Why do I feel Sick?
Most of us know friends who have the very debilitating disease or syndromes that keep them in limbo, wondering when they will ever feel again full of energy and vitality. Researchers have found that Glyconutrients offer potential help through their ability to help optimize the body's function. The following tells a little about chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and fibromyalgia (FM):
'Despite a host of advances in treating many diseases, there are still "mystery" ailments lacking definitive causes and definitive cures. Besides CFS, FM which can cause widespread body pain and range from an aggravation to a disabling affliction, is also in this category. While CFS and FM are different disorders, they have much in common.
FM and CFS are two similar disorders with overlapping symptoms, including chronic fatigue, sleep disturbances, pain, immune system dysfunction, tenderness and stiffness in muscles, tendon insertions and soft tissue structures, and psychological depression.....
Although FM/CSF disorders affect several millions of people each year, medical management and treatment consist mainly of education, relief of discomfort, sleep quality improvement, exercise and emotional balance. It isn't unusual for those with chronic body-wide pain and fatigue to be diagnosed with both FM and CFS.
Even if a disease's or syndrome's cause and cure remain mysteries, there are often natural ways to reduce symptoms and even help the human body heal itself. A growing body of research suggests that glyconutrients, health-enhancing sugars - or saccharides- which partner with proteins and lipids in cellular communication, may help.'

When the Body Attacks Itself
Information from 'Breakthroughs In Health Vol. 1 Issue 2
We all want a strong immune system to zap viruses and other invaders, but we don't want our immune systems to attack our own cells. When that happens, the result is an autoimmune disease, such as lupus erythnematosis (SLE) or rheumatoid arthritis. Modern medicine has no cures, and treatments, such as steroids, can damage tissues, bones and immunity.
Studies now show that healthy sugars may offer significant help for those suffering from autoimmune conditions. So, while they up regulate the immune system when needed, they also slow down the immune system when it is in overdrive.
Why this occurs remains unclear, but saccharides are believed to influence communication between white blood cells and the chemicals they produce. This raises the possibility that a lack of saccharides could cause that communication to misfire, producing an inappropriate immune reaction such as autoimmunity.
Research published in the Journal of Autoimmunity found that patients with a variety of autoimmune diseases (including rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn's disease and Sjogren's syndrome) were found to have disturbances in the essential sugars galactose and N-acetylglucosamine. Theoretically, at least, supplementing the diet with saccharides in the form of glyconutrients might help correct autoimmune symptoms by correcting the process by which saccharides are joined to proteins and fats on a cellular level, or glycosylation.

Designed to Breathe
Taken from 'Creation' Magazine Vol. 27 No. 1 2005 'The Breath of Life' by David Demick,M.D.
'One of the best-known verses in the Bible is Genesis 2:7, 'And the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living soul.' This verse sets a pattern for the rest of the Bible, where breath is often equated with life itself.....'
'Respiration in humans begins with the nose. Our nasal passages are much more than just a source of discomfort when cold and flu season comes around. They are a high-tech air conditioning and purification system. They filter out the larger dust particles and microbial spores by focusing incoming air onto the mucous membrane lining the nasal cavity. The cells of this lining secrete sticky mucus, where impurities are trapped and disposed of. The nasal passages also provide air warming and humidification, through a rich blood supply just beneath the mucous membrane. (This is why nosebleeds happen fairly easily.) The blood supply also acts as a chemical cleanser of the air, and gives the nose design features in common with modern air-cleaning antipollution devices....'
This is only half the story but '......The lung damage and death caused by tobacco smoking is a good example of the issues involved. Does the respiratory system show any signs of evolution? No, none at all. Evolutionists cannot explain marked differences in respiratory design among the vertebrates. Furthermore, mutations have not been shown to provide any benefit to this system........'
Eastern mystics teach meditation upon one's breath as a way of controlling body functions and gaining inner peace. Christians could also benefit from meditating upon breath, but in a different way. They should recognize that the breath of life is a great gift from God, and a powerful biblical metaphor used to speak of His very presence.....'
Early research on glyconutrients (the necessary sugars) suggests that by adding glyconutrients to the human diet there is an increase in production in one's bone marrow stem cell production. Glyconutrients are generally missing from our diet but are essential for optimal health and well-being.
